Gustav
Klimt was an artist who lived in Vienna during the late 19th Century, through
to the early Twentieth Century. Klimt has become one of the worlds’ most loved
and recognized of all artists due to his work “The Kiss”. You will learn who
Klimt was and about the times he lived in. Klimt’s early life, family, the
glamorous world of the Vienna upper class in the late Nineteenth Century and
how all of this shaped his ideas, subject matter and art. CONTEXT One of Klimt’s works will be analyzed and
studied carefully. You will learn some of Klimt’s motivations and you will
paint a plan and paint a painting in his style, adding your own influences
along with gold, wax, and oil paints on canvass. You will then display your
painting, evaluate your work and analyze it. You will also hear the music of
Eric Sartie who was a composer of the times, along with Mozart and learn about
the fabulous Vienna opera, the music he listened to.
