My Jobs and Roles Collage

Central idea: Jobs and roles involve a responsibility to others.

·       Strategies for meeting our responsibility to others

We looked at lots of examples of artwork showing scenes of people working in different places and at different times, and we decided what the paintings had in common.   We looked for pictures or words and phrases relating to jobs or roles in old magazines.  We decided what type of jobs and roles we wanted to look for and we cut out the pictures we found interesting.  We made a collage showing how jobs and roles involve a responsibility to others.  We had to describe how our collage showed this responsibility. 

We glued pictures to card to make our collages and some of us also completed them with our own drawings.

We liked our drawings or photos but found it challenging to look for relevant pictures.

Grade 1 agreed on the following criteria for a successful collage:   

                 

Did I show different jobs or roles?

Did I show family and community relationships?

Did I show how people are responsible?

Is my collage attractive with only good pictures?

Neat cutting and neat gluing
